Since 1916, “The Hellenic Association of Somerville, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin,” as the church was originally named, has been a pillar of Hellenic culture and tradition in Somerville. Guided by strong faith and an Orthodox mindset, the community has embodied the virtues of our Hellenic culture and traditions for over 100 years.

OTHERS
Through our Ladies Philoptochos Society established in 1932, and numerous ethnic civic organizations, Dormition has been a beacon of hope to those in need.
Today, this core value of generosity and service to others continues through The Dormition Table, our own soup kitchen that nourishes those in need from around the Somerville area by providing and serving freshly cooked meals twice a month.
HOSPITALITY
The annual Greek Music and Food Festival offers some of the best Greek food and entertainment this side of the Atlantic and has become a “must attend” event for residents of Somerville and Greater Boston.
The parishioners of Dormition have taken pride in our Food Festivals, picnics, feast day celebrations and other gatherings that can be traced back to the first parish picnic in 1927.
